Workable Manchester and Workable Centre Network Europe
“Erica has demonstrated an ability to match individual students to placements relevant to their chosen career, and an open approach to people, and to problem-solving. Working in association with career specialists, she has organised employment action days, CV preparation sessions and interview skills workshops to enable undergraduate and graduate students to take account of their needs in marketing themselves for a job.
In performing her role, Erica has acquired a sound knowledge of disability related issues. Working closely with employers, she has extended her remit to bring disability to the attention of staff in both the private, public and not-for-profit sector, and within the four Manchester universities. Erica has enhanced her IT skills and has played a part as a team member, in developing programmes and services for disabled undergraduate and graduate students.“
— David Bennett, Director, Workable
“The aim of the Workable project is to help students with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses. The aim of the Workable project is to offer students with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses the opportunity to prove themselves in the last semesters of their studies or after completing their studies in the form of national or international internships or short-term employment contracts. The project is carried out in cooperation with the association UNIABILITY (Disability Representative at Austrian Universities) at all Austrian universities. Internships are currently being organised for about 70 students. Since the end of the project, WCN has been continued in Austria and internationally. As a result of the project, the national project ABAK could be established.”
