Manchester Airport Project Work

Employee Training, Engagement and Enablement

Manchester Airport – “Landing a Job”

I provided disability inclusion awareness training to the senior management team at Manchester Airport on behalf of Breakthrough UK, Manchester. I co-wrote a project report, “Landing a Job”, with Bill Kempton, a well-known blind disability advocate and Magistrate (Justice of the Peace) in Manchester. The report outlined the training delivered by me and other disability awareness trainers to airport staff.

During the project, my colleagues and I used a collaborative approach to identify change management actions that managers could take, implement, and be accountable for in the short to medium term. These actions aimed to help all staff deliver accessible and inclusive products and services for airport users, customers, stakeholders, and disabled employees alike.

After Bill and my change management project work and report for Manchester Airport was completed an article appeared in the local newspaper, The Sale Messenger.

“A New blueprint aiming to help disabled people find employment has been launched at Manchester Airport. As a result of the project, the airport is overhauling its training programme, carrying out a survey of terminals and incorporating awareness into training and management schemes, to make sure the needs of disabled employees and customers are met.”
